- History of the Firm -
Whitney Damron has more than 25 years of experience in the field of state government relations and politics in Kansas. His lobbying career began in 1986 when he went to work with John Bottenberg, a Topeka-based contract lobbyist during his second year of law school. Mr. Bottenberg relocated his firm into the offices of Pete McGill & Associates, Inc., in the fall of 1986 and Damron was asked to join Mr. McGill's firm as an employee in January of 1987. Mr. McGill was a former Speaker of the House of Representatives in Kansas a position he held for two terms (four years) in the mid-1970's.
Pete McGill, now deceased, was a pioneer in the field of contract lobbying in Kansas. During its peak, the firm represented over forty clients and was recognized as the largest and most successful government relations firm of its kind in the Midwest United States. Damron worked with the firm for more than eight years, leaving in 1995 to create his own government relations company, Whitney B. Damron, P.A.
Since that time, Damron has developed a successful lobbying firm of his own and represents a diverse clientele before the Kansas legislative and administrative branches of state government. Clients of the firm include Fortune 500 companies and small business, trade and professional associations, financial and health care interests, among others.
The Kansas Legislature is traditionally in session from January through May and occasionally later in the year when a special session is called, such as the most recent one held in 2005. In addition, numerous legislative and administrative hearings and meetings are held throughout the year making year round representation a necessity for those affected by actions of Kansas state government.
The firm of Whitney B. Damron, P.A. stands ready to assist you with all of your government relations needs in the State of Kansas . We believe our credentials, our reputation and our experience can effectively be put to work for you to advance your objectives and protect your interests before state government.
